Services

The Laboratory of Systems Biology at Tallinn University of Technology helps turn complex cellular measurements into clear, decision-ready answers. We combine advanced experiments with quantitative analysis and mathematical modeling to reveal how cells function, respond to treatment, and change in disease.

Our services are suitable for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, medical research projects, academic collaborations, and technology development.

Core Experimental and Analytical Services

Electrophysiology and cellular function

Measure electrical currents, cell excitability, calcium handling, and functional responses to compounds, mutations, or disease models. Read more

Cellular bioenergetics and energy transfer

Determine how cells make, deliver, and use energy through high-resolution respiration, metabolic and redox-state measurements, and analysis of intracellular energy transfer. Read more

Quantitative fluorescence microscopy

Quantify cell structure, molecular movement, and calcium signalling with confocal, TIRF, super-resolution, and live-cell fluorescence microscopy. Read more

Mathematical modeling

Use models constrained by experimental data to test mechanisms, explain observations, and predict the most informative next experiment. Read more

Applied Testing Services

Drug Candidate Testing: Ion Channels and Membrane Electrophysiology

Assessment of drug candidate effects on ion channels, transporters, pumps, ionic currents, and membrane potential. This service uses Electrophysiology and cellular function to determine whether a candidate produces a meaningful functional effect.

Drug Candidate Testing: Cellular Metabolism and Bioenergetics

Evaluation of drug candidate effects on cellular metabolism, mitochondrial function, and energetic regulation. This service uses Cellular bioenergetics and energy transfer, with quantitative fluorescence microscopy where appropriate, to assess metabolic effects in cells.

Drug Candidate Testing: Cardiomyocyte Contractility

Assessment of drug candidate effects on cardiomyocyte contraction and excitation-contraction coupling. This combines quantitative fluorescence microscopy with electrophysiology and cellular function.
